How to Make Alkaline Water at Home
Alkaline water at home is a great idea because alkaline water can help you stay hydrated more effectively than regular tap water or bottled water and can improve your overall health and well-being. Sure, you can buy alkaline water at the store – but it just doesn’t have the same healthy properties as making it at home. So, why not make alkaline water at home?
There are lots of different ways that you can make alkaline water at home. Some require special equipment, like water ionizers, whereas others just require household ingredients that you probably already have lying around.
Not all of these different methods produce the same quality of alkaline water, though. In this article we’ll let you know the different ways you can produce alkaline or hydrogen water.

Alkalize Water With Baking Soda
One of the easiest ways to make alkaline water is to simply mix regular water with baking soda. Baking soda has a pH of 9, and can easily alkalize water.
Unfortunately, this doesn’t really improve the quality of the water. Baking soda is also high in sodium, which means it’ll make your water taste salty. Overall, it’s not a healthy choice. In fact, most bottled alkaline water brands simply add baking soda to water to make it alkaline instead of ionizing it or infusing it with molecular hydrogen. This way of alkalizing water it best to skip.
Alkaline Water From pH Drops
pH drops are another tool that you can use to make alkaline water. pH drops are liquid ‘supplements’ that you can drop into your water to alkalize and mineralize it. These drops are quite strong, and you only need to add a couple to each glass of water.
Unfortunately, using pH drops is not as reliable as using something like a water ionizer. Overtime, they will get expensive, plus, like the baking soda method, they’re missing the antioxidants that you get from using a water ionizer.
Alkaline Water Using a Filter Jug
Filter jugs remove contaminants like chlorine, and some bad-tasting impurities as well. However, the filter medium is cheap, and it still leaves behind a massive amount of unhealthy heavy metals and chemicals like fluoride, which can lead to health problems down the road.
Additionally, a filter jug isn’t going to put molecular hydrogen into your water either. There are some filter jugs that add alkaline minerals, but just like the pH drops above, they leave a lot to be desired.
Alkaline Water Using a Water Ionizer
A water ionizer is by far the best way to make alkaline water. Water ionizers work by electrolysis, separating regular water into two separate liquids: acidic water and alkaline water.
In the long run, a water ionizer will save you money because you won’t have to keep buying bottled alkaline water. It’s also the most effective way to create alkaline water bolstered with molecular hydrogen.
There are lots of different ways to alkalize your water, but the best way to do it is to use a water ionizer. Water ionizers are reliable, produce high-quality alkaline water, and will save you money.
